peter bilak

After sleeping just across the street in our caravan we meet Peter Bilak in his buero in den hague. after starting studying in bratislava and some foreign experience in england, usa and france he finally stopped in the netherlands. he is now working as a graphic / typedesigner and he publishes the graphic design magazine dot dot dot (dot-dot-dot.nl/). his fonts are distributed over FontShop and his own fontlabel typotheque.com. in developing a type, he starts with very fast and tiny sketches for the important letters and moves on to the computer quickly. working in a multimedial sourrounding is an important factor for peter to be able to look at his fonts from another point of view. at the moment peter is working on a research project with 4 other designers about arabic letters and handwriting. once a week he is teaching at the royal academy of arts in den hague a post-graduate course on typography. in his mind are several fonts not yet been made but when he finds some time in the future he will work on them.
this year his probably best known font, fedra sans pro, a multilingual sans serif typeface, will be published as an opentype font.
